CO2 Mixing and Carbonation System

An inline carbonation system that hits target volumes of CO2 within ±0.05 vol, so the filler never has to over-carbonate to compensate.

Why over-carbonating costs money twice

Breweries often carbonate slightly high because the filler loses CO2 to foaming. That extra gas is bought twice: once as CO2 and once as lost yield at the filler. Holding ±0.05 vol removes the need for the buffer.

Inline measurement closes the loop

A continuous CO2 meter downstream of the dosing point feeds a PID controller. Without measurement, dosing is open-loop and drifts with product temperature and flow changes across a run.

Static mixer versus venturi

A static mixer gives better dissolution at lower line rates and lower pressure drop. A venturi injects more aggressively and suits high rates where the mixer would be very long. The choice follows line rate and available pump head.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it carbonate to 4 volumes?

Yes, provided product temperature is held near 0-2 degrees C. Above 3.5 vol, a longer saturation line is recommended.

Does it work with high-gravity dilution?

Yes. Deaerated water blending and CO2 dosing are usually combined in one skid for high-gravity brewing.

How often does the CO2 meter need calibration?

Every six months, against a reference method. Drift beyond 0.03 vol between calibrations is a sign the sensor needs service.
